You deserve the feeling of comfort in your home. This is your place to relax and enjoy what makes you happy – whether it be curling up with a favorite book, cooking a delicious meal or spending quality time with family and friends. We’ve heard it said often, and we couldn’t agree more: There really is no place like home. While there are plenty of ways to feel a sense of comfort in your home, from hanging art to showcasing memorabilia from throughout the years, a major factor that helps you relax and breathe is safety. Safety and security measures in a home are a vital way to protect your belongings and keep you and your loved ones safe. If you’re considering a move to a Life Plan community, everyday safety and security are common concerns during your research process. Make sure the community you choose offers safety protocols you can count on. In part 3 of our Security Blog Series, we’ll highlight the emergency procedures offered at Ventana by Buckner that gives Members the feeling of comfort for their safety.
Preparing for Emergencies at Ventana
In the midst of an emergency, Ventana is equipped to handle the situation and offer security and service that Members deserve. Since this job requires continuous improvement, we research best practices and look for opportunities to improve our policies. Ventana is equipped to handle emergency situations in a timely, collaborative, organized and effective manner. All staff, Members and families have access to and are familiar with policies and procedures relating to disaster emergency management. Our goal is to protect your comfort and safety, offering you the carefree lifestyle that you deserve.
How Ventana Has Responded to COVID-19
The most recent example of our emergency policies and procedures is our response to the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19 has impacted our community, policies and the lives of Members at Ventana. As a commitment to our Members and staff, we implemented strategic plans and precautions addressing the pandemic to help mitigate risks. Because older adults appear to be the most vulnerable to the virus, we have continued to monitor the COVID-19 situation through information, calls and webinars provided regularly by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). We implemented a variety of precautions within our community, including a limited access visitation policy and encouraging Members to practice social distancing. We take this situation seriously and have not made decisions around our health and security policies lightly. To keep all Members safe and healthy, we launched changes to our daily operations, including a meal delivery option and the suspension of group activities. We have also conducted regular wellness checks and increased access to testing for Members and staff. We have worked tirelessly to be as proactive as possible during this time to ensure our Members’ happiness and wellbeing. Our efforts have not gone unnoticed. When we spoke with Member Bitsy Kirk, she said: “I feel very secure here and am feeling blessed that I am.  Ventana is doing everything possible to protect us, and I am so grateful.  I think the real heroes here are all the wonderful staff we have in maintenance, culinary and just each and every one who is making sacrifices for us. I am a hugger and when this has passed, hugs for everyone.”
